Smith County Memorial Hospital (SCMH) is rethinking food service. Each day patients, guests and staff are offered freshly prepared food by culinary trained professionals using locally sourced ingredients. SCMH is looking for a registered dietitian with an understanding of nutrition and a heart for people to join its fast-paced kitchen.

The dietitian works as a member of a team to provide food service that is safe, accurate, timely and responsive to the needs of patients, guests and staff.

This ideal candidate will be a member of a team that develops recipes balancing nutrition and enticing flavors. They will collaborate with nutrition and food service team regarding menu planning and nutrition specifications. Forecasts production, inventories and purchases, ensures all food and entrees are prepared in a timely manner, according to the recipes appropriate for the menu. Other duties include stocking and serving portion controlled hot and cold food, replenishing stations, restocking work stations, assembly, delivery and collection of patient trays. The person maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the work stations and equipment.

The dietitian is responsible for providing excellent customer interactions and is looked upon as an ambassador for the hospital food service and nutrition team. The ideal candidate will be well versed in current nutrition trends and practices and possess excellent communication and written skills.
